Day 10
Parable of the Hidden Treasure
and the Pearl of Great Price

"How Much is It Worth to You?"

Matthew 13:44-46

As I researched this dual-story
parable, I was challenged to look
at it from a different perspective.
I’ll share that in a moment. The main point
of both examples in the parable is that being
part of God's Kingdom is worth everything!

The man who just happened to find the
treasure in the field, sold
everything he had to buy the
field and therefore owned the treasure.
The merchant who searched for
and found the valuable pearl, sold
everything to be able to buy the pearl.
We know you cannot buy your way into
heaven or a relationship with Jesus,
but if you could, it would be
worth everything you own!

Reinforcing that, consider if Jesus
was the man who found the treasure
or the merchant who found the pearl.
The church - those who trust Jesus -
and therefore you and me as believers,
would be the treasure or the pearl.
Jesus left heaven for us. Jesus became,
not just a man, but a servant among men,
and then suffered and sacrificed his life
so we could have a relationship with him.
He gave it all up for us!

Now, think about it - he considered having
a relationship with you worth everything.
Just how much value do you place
on having a relationship with Him?
Is it worth everything to you?

Prayer: Lord, help us to spend more time
building our relationship with You.
Speak to us through Your word and
Your Spirit who dwells within us.
It is only as we spend time with You that
we will get to know you better and learn
to appreciate the value of our relationship.

P.S. In the Secret in the quiet place
- In the stillness You are there.
In the secret, in the quiet
hour I wait, only for You,
‘Cause, I want to know You more

I want to know You. I want to hear Your voice.
I want to know You more.
I want to touch You - I want to see Your face.
I want to know You more.

I am reaching for the highest goal
- That I might receive the prize.
Pressing onward, pushing every
hindrance aside - Out of my way.
‘Cause, I want to know You more
