Day 12
Parable of the Good Samaitan

"Like a Good Neighbor...!"

Luke 10:30-37

Several years ago, on a Sunday morning,
there was a lady with a suitcase on
the side of the road near the church.
One of our church couples stopped
to check on her. She was headed for Vandalia,
35 miles south of us, to meet up with family
on the next day and go on with them.
They convinced her to come and worship
with us at church and afterwards
drove her to Vandalia themselves.

They had quietly gathered a few dollars
from some other members and treated
her to lunch and a night at a local hotel,
as her connection was not until the next day.
The woman was so surprised and grateful.
She was not from Pana; she was of
a different ethnic background; she was
obviously financially strapped at the moment.
She was someone in need.
Our folks were good neighbors!

Except for the beating and robbery part of the
Good Samaritan parable, this was it!
Being a neighbor to someone in need.
No doubt there are many people
placed in our path that we
can minister to if we choose to.
This is how the Lord says we love our neighbors.

Prayer: Father, show us people that we
need to minister to. Then give us the
resources and courage to step out and serve.

P.S. From Acts Devotion - Day 3 -
Remember reading about how Peter and John
had no money to give the crippled
beggar, but healed him and
told him about Jesus!
No matter what else you might do
for your "neighbor," always remember
that the best thing you could
do for them is to give them Jesus!
