Luke 13:6-9
Politics is a tough subject to discuss,
but I think most would agree that we all
want our elected officials to work on our behalf.
We the people elect them to act
in our stead - to be our representatives.
When they don't, we are at
least disappointed, more likely upset!
They are called representatives after all.
They are there to pass laws
that benefit their constituents.
If they don't, then vote them
out! Get someone who will.
The fig tree looked like a fig tree.
It grew up from the ground like a fig tree
and had leaves like a fig tree.
But fig trees are supposed to
produce figs and this one did not.
The vineyard owner wanted to just
get rid of it. The worker asked
for another chance, but with the
understanding that the tree would
have to produce figs or else!
Disciples of Jesus are supposed to
produce more disciples. We are to
reach and develop others for Jesus.
We might look good and sound good,
but are we producing the fruit?
If not, what good are we?
What would it take to get us to do
what we've been planted here to do?
A little spiritual digging around us?
A little spiritual fertilizer added.
If the Lord and the church provide it,
will you take advantage of that and produce?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to produce fruit.
Even if it takes a little digging, or
a little fertilizer, or even some pruning,
help us to bloom where we are planted.
P.S.: Consider this: The Bible says that people
are known by their fruits, just like trees are.
Good trees produce good fruit,
bad trees produce bad fruit.
That being said, what does the
fruit you are producing say
about what kind of tree you are?
