Matthew 25:1-13
We used to play Hide and Seek around
the neighborhood when I was growing up.
Rules may vary, but we would
have one person be “It”, who
would close their eyes at
the chosen base - often a particular
big tree - and count to 100.
The others would scatter to hide
within the preset boundaries for the game.
“It” was to seek out the hiders
and tag them before they could get
to the base. When “It” had finished
counting, he or she would call out,
“Ready or not, here I come!” and then
proceed to seek the hidden players.
Sometimes you just couldn't settle
on a good hiding place, or
when you got to one, you
found someone else already there!
You would run around in a panic
trying to hide somewhere and maybe
get caught out in the open
when “It” said, “Here I come!”
We don't know when Jesus is coming back.
You need to be like the five wise
bridesmaids and be ready for it
to happen at any time, because He is
coming whether you are ready or not.
You must be saved, and you need to be
found faithfully serving when He comes.
If you are caught unprepared, you lose!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for saving me.
I know that I will go to be with
you whenever you are ready to take me.
In the meantime, help me to
be found faithfully serving you.
P.S.: Do you remember what the disciples
were doing on the night that Jesus was
betrayed - while He was praying in the garden?
Jesus had told them to watch and pray.
He went off by himself and returned
to check on them three times and
found them asleep each time.
They failed to pray, so they were not
prepared to follow. They failed twice.
