Mark 13:32-37
Even before the American Revolutionary War,
there existed certain military men
called “The Minutemen.” They were
specially selected and trained to be
ready for battle at a moment’s notice.
They kept weapons, ammunition, and provisions
ready at all times, so that as soon
as an alarm was sounded, they could
respond fully prepared to do battle!
Jesus said we should always watch and be alert.
We don't know when He is coming back.
For that matter we don't know when death
will come to us. Nor do we know
when an opportunity to serve the Lord
or be a witness may present itself.
Therefore, we should always be ready
in a moment’s notice to go,
whether to heaven or to service!
How about you? When the Lord returns,
will He find you alert and ready?
Will He find you faithfully serving?
Or will you be sleeping?
Prayer: Dear Lord, prepare us for your
service and for your coming. Help us
to learn the things we need to know,
and to be ready for anything.
P.S.: Peter, one of those disciples
who was sleeping in the garden,
later had it figured out.
He wrote that the devil is a roaring lion,
roaming around seeking whom he may devour;
that we should prepare our minds for action;
that we should always be ready to give an
answer for the reason for the hope that in us.
