John 14:1-6
We have no problem with homeowners being able
to decide who may enter their own homes.
We understand when businesses decide
whom they may choose not to serve,
such as “No shoes, no shirt, no service.”
Clubs and organizations have restricted memberships.
Military and law enforcement agencies have
standards to meet before you can join them.
Even amusement parks say you must be this tall to ride this ride!
Yet, for some reason, people don't think God
has a right to decide who can go to heaven
and how they can get there!
I think it's a heart problem, not an intellect problem.
Jesus was pretty clear in this passage about the future.
Summing it up, He said He was leaving the
world to prepare a place for his followers.
He said they could easily find their
way to this place by just following Him.
He promised to return someday to get them - and us.
He very plainly said there was only one way to this new place.
It can only be reached through faith in Him.
Yet, we live in a world full of people
who think there are lots of paths to heaven.
They say there are lots of different truths.
They say we are all going to heaven,
just going different ways!
But Jesus said He was the only way!
Since it is His heaven, it makes
sense to me that He sets the rules for
getting in and how to live there.
And He has. It’s in the Bible. Read it!
By grace, through faith, in Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for providing this one way to heaven.
Thank You for making it available to all
- through faith in Jesus.
It can’t be plainer or simpler. Thank You!
P.S. Aren’t you glad that the way
to heaven is simply trusting Jesus!?
What if it had been about possessing exceptional knowledge,
or athletic abilities, or having a certain amount of money,
or any one of another million ways
that you could never accomplish.
If it took being tall, dark, and handsome
– I’d be lost forever! But thanks be to God,
it just takes faith - and He even provides the faith! -Eph. 2:8-9
