Romans 10:9-15
“You've got to hear this!” “You have to watch this!”
“I wouldn't have believed it if
I hadn't seen it with my own eyes!”
Things so unbelievable, so fantastic, so important,
or even so funny, that we want everyone else to experience it, too!
Yet, so much of what we just have to pass on,
is not really all that important.
It's seldom life-changing, earth-shattering news.
It's almost never of eternal consequence.
But we just have to share it!
Paul tells us in this passage that since we only get to heaven
if we have the righteousness that comes from God
through faith in Christ, everyone needs to hear that!
He says each person can be saved if they call on Jesus,
but then asks how can they if they don't know about Him?
And how can they know about Him
if no one tells them about Him?
And who will help send someone to tell them?
An old saying is “You can lead a horse to water,
but you can't make him drink.”
It means that it is really up to the horse
to decide for itself if it will drink or not.
However, it would be totally irresponsible
for the horse’s owner not to make the water available!
Cruelty to animals is a bad thing.
How much crueler to withhold from people
the eternal-life-giving water Jesus offers.
With whom could you share the gospel this week?
They cannot be saved unless they hear it from someone.
How do your feet look? Are they
beautiful from going to share the gospel?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to go, help us to share,
and help us to send, so that others may come to know Jesus.
P.S. Recent events such as a world-wide pandemic,
government shutdowns, riots, and business losses,
are going to impact sending others or even going ourselves
out into the world to share the gospel.
Restricted travel, less money, and the need
to restructure here at home will certainly impact
how and where we can share the gospel.
We may have to get highly creative and also challenge
ourselves to be more sacrificial in our giving.
Pray for those who can and do go!
