Philippians 2:5-8
There has been a recurring fad for bracelets, clothing,
signs, etc. with the letters WWJD on them.
The letters stand for What Would Jesus Do?
The challenge behind the craze is that
before taking action on virtually anything,
we should ask ourselves what Jesus
ould do in such a situation as ours.
It comes from a book by Charles Sheldon
called, “In His Steps.” I recommend it.
However, I think that in order to know
what Jesus would do, we would
need a clear understanding of how He thinks!
So, WWJT? The apostle Paul told us
to think like Jesus - have
the same attitude or mindset as Jesus.
Then he gave us a glimpse into that
mindset by speaking of Jesus’ humility,
servanthood, and sacrificial thinking.
While these concepts alone won’t give us
clear directions in particular situations, they will
go a long way in shaping our attitudes to respond
correctly in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.
Having humility and being a servant
would help us to put others first,
never seeking our own desires or goals above
those of others and certainly not above God's!
Being sacrificial would help us to give
ourselves very deeply in our service.
That is the way Jesus thinks.
How can we think like Jesus?
Read more about Him. Pray about being like Him.
Put into practice what you already
know about Him. He will gradually
transform our thinking if we let Him.
Prayer: Lord, help us think more like You.
Help us establish priorities and practices
that will produce Your thoughts in us.
P.S. Remember Romans 12:1-2?
We focused on being a living sacrifice for Jesus.
The second verse said that we should let Him
transform our way of thinking to be like His.
That would produce the mind of Christ in us!
It won’t be instantaneous, but rather a gradual change.
It depends on how much time you will
surrender to God so He can transform you –
time in Bible study, prayer, and worship.
