2 Corinthians 5:7-21
Ever ask that? Of course, you have! Me, too.
Sometimes it is a question of why something
should be done at all. Sometimes, it means
why should I be the one to do that particular thing?
In any case, we seem to need proper
motivation for the suggested action.
Whenever I need extra motivation for a task or
ministry, I think about this passage of scripture.
I call it the “Why” Chapter.
It doesn't matter what the task is
or even what the practical reasons are for the task
- the real motivations are spelled out here.
Verse 7 - we shouldn't need to see all the reasons;
v. 9 - in order to please God;
v. 10 - we will be judged by God;
v. 11 - respect for God; v. 14 - God's love compels us;
v. 15 - we should live for Jesus;
v. 16 - we should see things from God's perspective;
v. 17 - we have a new nature in Christ;
v. 18 - we have been given charge of His ministry;
v. 20 - people need the Lord!
Need a better reason than those? I don't think so.
Sometimes we just need to be reminded.
Whatever you think God is leading you to do
- well, this is why you should follow through!
Prayer: Heavenly father, forgive us when
we think of ourselves rather than others
and the love You have for them.
Help us to always remember what
You have done for us and promised to do
for us and be willing to find ways to pass that on.
