Day 23 - "Lean On Me"

Proverbs 3:5-6

We use a map or GPS to guide us.
We use a handrail to steady ourselves
going up or down stairs. Canes, crutches,
walkers, someone’s hand or arm -
all are to give us added strength
or steadiness as we move about.
When we're tired and a bed is not an option,
we lay our head on someone’s shoulder.

Other times, we need encouragement
or advice or just plain ol’ manpower.
Hopefully, you have friends, family,
and a church family to help you.
I have certainly been blessed that way and in return
have tried to be that blessing to others.

However, there is One who stands higher than
all others. The Lord tells us to lean
on Him - for wisdom, strength,
emotional needs - in all our ways!
He will guide our steps, regardless
of whether we are talking about a physical way
to go or a spiritual path to follow.

Our part is to acknowledge our need for help
and then to trust Him with all our heart
- even when we don't understand.
We need to realize that our
limited understanding is not good enough.
Trust His word. Obey even when
you can't see it - with all your
heart – without wavering - in all circumstances.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we really do know
that Your way is always best, but sometimes
our pride and stubbornness get in the way.
Forgive us and help us because
we need Your help daily.

P.S. We have sung this song in church before:

I’m learning to lean, learning to lean.
I’m learning to lean on Jesus.
Finding more power than I’d ever dreamed –
I’m learning to lean on Jesus.

There's glorious victory, each day now for me.
I found His peace so serene.
He helps me with each task, if only I'll ask.
Ev'ry day now, I'm learning to lean.
