2 Chronicles 7:12-14
It is so easy to say and so easy
to pray, Father, fix this problem.
Change so and so's heart and mind.
Judge the wicked. Help your people.
What is not so easy, is to admit that sometimes
it is God's people who are the problem!
Sometimes, it is me that is in the wrong!
Oh, the world is always on the outs with God.
But they're just lost people acting lost!
The bigger problem is when God's people
are acting like lost people!
The remedy is clear. If we want
God to hear our prayers and fix things,
we need to let him start with us.
When His people repent and change,
God will act! We want Him
to change everyone else when we are wrong!
Evangelist Gypsy Smith used to draw a circle
on the ground before preaching a revival.
He would step inside the circle and pray
for God to send revival to that city
and let it begin inside that circle!
Perhaps when the church gets right
with God, our nation will follow.
Prayer: Lord, show me where I need to change
and help me to do it!
P.S. Remember the "Good Ol' Days" Devotion Day 24?
It was about having a log in your eye while
trying to remove a splinter from someone else’s eye!
Jesus said to take the log out of your own eye first!
Sounds about the same as Solomon’s situation.
God says if HIS people will repent
and change, He will hear and heal!
