Day 6 - "I Need a Break!"

Isaiah 40:28-31

Do you ever get to the point where you feel like
you just can't go on? You're physically tired.
You're emotionally spent. You are spiritually drained.
So many things yet to do.
Resources exhausted. What can you do!?
An old TV commercial showed “mom” enjoying
a bubble bath and saying, “Calgon, take me away!”
And actually, sometimes that helps.
A whirlpool tub might even make it better.
I do the soaking thing sometimes, too. It's not just for women!

However, we need more than just a reprieve from the grind.
More than a vacation. More than a good movie or
a date night away from the kids or
whatever you find helps you rejuvenate.
Those things help. But they usually seem pretty
short-term, and frankly kind of shallow.
Good for the body and mind, but
not quite as good for the soul.
That's because the soul is God's realm.
Only He can restore your soul.

According to our passage, He does that when we “wait” on Him.
The word wait does not mean sit idly by until He comes.
It means to bind together,
to so entwine yourself with God,
that you rely on His resources rather than your own.
That's how you can run and walk
and even soar like an eagle,
because He renews your resources and gives you His!

How do you bind together with God?
You do it through Bible study, prayer, and worship.

Prayer: Father, help me get renewed! Give me Your
wisdom and strength as I spend time with You.

P.S. (Sing this song if you know it!)
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord.
Wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord.
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord.
Wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord.
Our God, you reign forever. Our hope, our strong deliverer.
You are the everlasting God. The everlasting God.
You do not faint; you won't grow weary.
You're the defender of the weak. You comfort those in need.
You lift us up on wings like eagles. - Brenton Brown
